Role of Coated P.C.C. in u-PVC application
Coated P.C.C is used in u-PVC for easy Flow & Dispersion characteristics allowing Higher Loading & Output besides Improved Surface Finish / Shade; Degree of Whiteness; Reduced Plate out; Higher Impact Strength / Modulus of Elasticity, Good Elongation at break & Good Weathering Resistance.
The special properties of surface treated P.C.C result from its lower density, rhombohedral structure, small particle size, high degree of purity & brightness thus effecting good dipersibility in polymer matrix
The basic distinction is given below;
| Properties | Advantages |
| Density | Yields lighter pipes for same thickness. |
| Particle shape | Reduced wear and Tear on the Extruder Barrel. |
| Brightness | Improves degree of whiteness & partial replacement of TiO2. |
| Particle size | Facilitates dispersion characteristics. |
| Coating | Reduces use of Internal Lubricants. |
| Flowpoint | Reduced viscosity. Maintains better in extruder & allows higher filler loading. |
A balanced use of Ground Calcium Carbonate & Precipitated Calcium Carbonate shall yield best physicomechanical values for processing quality pipes.
